TYPES OF LETTUCE FOR PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) comes in dozens of varieties, distinguished by head shape, color, texture, and commercial use. Smarties.bio selects the best-performing lettuce varieties for the Italian, European, and international markets, as well as for year-round cultivation.
The recommended planting density is 10 plants per square meter, with an optimal spacing of 40 cm between rows and 25 cm within the row.

ROMAINE LETTUCE
Albalunga and Albaliscia are the benchmark romaines for professional production: crisp ribs, good bolting tolerance, and excellent post-harvest keeping quality. Romaine lettuce is one of the most in-demand types thanks to its organoleptic qualities.

GENTILE BATAVIA AND CANASTA
The gentlie batavia family (Albachiara, Albascura, Albarubra) covers green, blond, and red color types, including pink lettuce seeds selections and red batavia lettuce types.
Canasta lettuce xs292 is the choice for large-scale retail: compact head, crisp leaves, excellent shelf life.

ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL
The seeds are available in organic and/or conventional versions, depending on the variety. Specific availability is indicated for each product. Each batch of Smarties.bio pelleted seeds is accompanied by a technical sheet with germination, purity, and harvest year data.
