An Award that speaks of future, roots, and international vision
An award that speaks of future, roots, and international vision We are deeply honored to share an achievement that represents far more than an award: Smarties.bio has received the America Agricoltura Award, a prestigious recognition promoted by the Italy USA Foundation.
An international award that celebrates the professionalism, passion, and entrepreneurial mission of the young talents who are the beating heart of our company.

An award of Italian agricultural excellence
The America Agricoltura Award was created to recognize each year 300 entrepreneurs leading the best Italian agricultural companies — businesses that represent the finest expression of Made in Italy worldwide and that competently face the challenges of the global market.
This award represents a certification of quality and authority toward consumers, partners, and international markets. For us, it confirms that we are on the right path.
The ceremony at the Chamber of Deputies
The award ceremony took place on January 12, 2026, in Rome at the Chamber of Deputies. On this occasion, the official certificates were presented to the founding partners of Smarties.bio:
Silvano Tiozzo Caenazzo - Luca Bertaggia - Andrea Ghedina
In addition to the award, a scholarship was granted to access the Italy USA Foundation’s executive online Master in “Leadership for International Relations and Made in Italy,” an opportunity that further strengthens our international vocation.
Our origins: young at heart, deeply rooted
The current core of Smarties.bio is young and dynamic, but the soul of the company is rooted in an older agricultural history born in the lagoon area of Sottomarina. An agriculture shaped by family tradition, hands-on learning, and values passed down over time. From those roots, a company capable of engaging with the world has grown — without ever losing its connection to the territory.
Over time, we have developed projects also in the United States, including:
- affiliation with the Culinary Breeding Network, led by Professor Lane Selman
- collaboration with Uprising Seeds
These initiatives are part of our main guiding principle: the Gusto Italiano Project, dedicated to promoting and safeguarding Italy’s horticultural heritage and biodiversity. For us, the italian taste begins with the seed. Our “Seed and Service” method supports this journey by offering integrated technical consultancy alongside sales and building a bridge between genetics, production, and market.

Tradition and innovation, together
Our flagship sector remains genetic research in professional horticulture, together with activities focused on the recovery, maintenance, and distribution of local native varieties. The goal is clear: to combine tradition and innovation to make these varieties suitable for the modern market without altering their identity and value.
Over time, we have worked as a link between all stakeholders in the supply chain — producers, dealers, retailers, processing industries, the culinary world, and consumers.
All guided by a philosophy that continues to inspire us every day:
“Those who want to live well and meaningfully must contribute to enriching the lives of others.”
An award that is also a starting point
Receiving the America Agricoltura Award is not a finish line, but a motivation.
It encourages us to:
- strengthen our international presence
- invest in biodiversity
- sow quality, knowledge, and passion in every project
A sincere thank you to the Italy USA Foundation for this prestigious award and to all collaborators, partners, producers, and customers who believe in our vision every day.
