Within the Smarties.bio onion range, Clodia represents a reliable solution for those looking for a white onion characterised by a high degree of uniformity. The variety stands out for:
- perfectly round bulbs;
- high productivity;
- excellent adaptability to different growing environments.
White Onion short-day, suitable for sowing at the end of August/beginning of September and transplanting at the end of October/beginning of November. Early cycle for May harvests. Short-day, meaning that its cultivation begins in autumn, when the photoperiod is decreasing and the days are therefore shorter. It is also excellent for the production of spring onions. Characterised by a mild, low-pungency flavour, it is particularly suitable for raw preparations and for typical dishes of the Venetian and Veneto traditions, such as "Saore", "Fegato alla Veneziana" and "Bigoli in Salsa".
Corn Salad range: XS114, the specialist for cold cycles
For autumn and winter production, our Corn Salad XS114 is the variety developed to deliver the best performance under the climatic conditions typical of the cold season. Its main characteristics include:
- excellent adaptability to low temperatures;
- firm and crunchy leaves;
- excellent retention of small, dark cotyledons.
XS114 makes it possible to obtain consistent production even in months characterised by lower light intensity, while maintaining high quality standards. For this reason, it represents one of the most interesting varieties for companies specialising in the production of valerian intended for both the fresh market and IV gamma. Early winter type, excellent for intermediate sowings and the cold period. Erect rosette habit, with dark, rounded leaves that are very firm and crunchy. Excellent productivity thanks to the high specific weight of the plant. Excellent retention of small, dark cotyledons, even after harvest.
