Smarties.bio artichoke seeds are for professional seed artichoke production — a method guaranteeing uniformity and virus-free plants compared to vegetative propagation.
Romano F1 is the classic Romanesco artichoke: large head, spineless, valued by Italian retail. Green Bell F1 is for the export market: bright green, uniform size.
Both EU organic and conventional.
SEED ARTICHOKE: ADVANTAGES OF SEED CULTIVATION
Growing artichoke from seed (rather than from offshoots) offers significant advantages: certified disease-free plants, absence of vegetatively transmitted pathogens, uniformity of vigour and flowering. Romano F1 is the reference Romanesco F1 hybrid: large head (300-400g), round, spineless, green with violet tints. Green Bell F1 targets the export market: bright green, long stem, medium-early cycle.
CULTIVATION TECHNIQUE
Seed artichoke is sown in nursery (Feb-March or Jul-Aug) and transplanted after 30-45 days. Production starts in the second year, with yields of 10,000-15,000 heads/ha.
ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL
Both varieties available in EU organic and conventional.
